Karoline Leavitt Confronts Reporter Who Praised Biden's Health Yet Questioned Trump's Fitness

Levitt Responds to Times’ Claims on Trump’s Health

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt took aim at the New York Times and its correspondent Katie Rogers for implying that President Donald Trump might be experiencing dementia, particularly after previously defending former President Joe Biden’s mental health.

The article, written by Rogers and journalist Dylan Friedman, discussed Trump’s public appearances and titled “Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces the Reality of Aging in Office.” It suggested that the 79-year-old president seems less visible and more fatigued compared to his earlier term. Levitt rebutted this, highlighting that the same reporter once defended Biden’s cognitive abilities following his fall on Air Force One in March 2021.

Levitt pointedly remarked, “Before I wrap up, there’s a clear piece of misinformation that needs addressing regarding weekend coverage. The Times characterized about a third of the president’s daily agenda and claimed his performance has diminished or that he might not be fit for the role.” She deemed it unfortunate that such a story was published, especially from the same outlet and reporter that stated, “Biden is doing 100 percent well” after the president stumbled while boarding the plane.

She further noted, “Are we serious here? You see him almost every day, and he is incredibly approachable. To suggest President Trump is unfit? It’s just… it’s unfounded.” Levitt criticized the Times, asserting that they compromised their credibility regarding the president’s health after making claims about Biden.

The Times, in their reporting, highlighted that Trump is appearing at fewer public events than in his initial term. They even referenced an incident where he reportedly dozed off during an engagement about weight loss products.

Moreover, it was suggested in the article that Trump might be concealing details about his medical procedures. However, Levitt mentioned that an MRI conducted in October indicated that Trump is in good health. Following his annual health check in April, the doctor affirmed that the president is maintaining both cognitive and physical health.
