George Kittle’s Unexpected Post-Game Adventure
After the 49ers’ victory over the Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, George Kittle found himself in an unexpected situation—trading in football for Pokémon. On the team plane heading home, kicker Matt Gay helped him open a highly sought-after first edition fossil pack.
The packs can be quite pricey, ranging from several thousand to even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Kittle seemed genuinely excited to dive into this world again.
In a video shared by Gay on Instagram, Kittle described the pack as “crispy” and reflected on how he used to buy similar ones as a child. The two carefully examined each card together, and Kittle was particularly enthralled by a holographic Magneton he discovered inside.
“That was disgusting,” Kittle said, expressing his excitement. “Thank you for having me.”
Kittle’s love for Pokémon is well-known; he even wore a T-shirt themed around the game during a recent video shoot. It’s amusing how these interests intersect with his professional life. Just the other day, he was playfully compared to his star teammates while sharing his journey through the Pokémon universe.
As for his performance, Kittle has been integral to the 49ers’ recent success, contributing with at least four receptions in the last three games. They’ve been on a roll, winning three straight and four out of the last five, now standing at 9-4 and in competition for the NFC West title.
After this week, the Niners have a bye, giving Kittle a chance to rest and perhaps indulge in a bit more Pokémon hunting.
