Giants Rookie QB Dart Takes a Hit in Patriots Game
In a recent game against the New England Patriots, rookie quarterback Jackson Dart of the New York Giants found himself in a tough spot during the first quarter. As he scrambled around, Dart attempted to evade pressure and push towards the first down marker. However, Patriots linebacker Christian Ellis charged at him and shoved Dart out of bounds, sending him crashing into the bench.
Things heated up when Giants tight end Theo Johnson collided with Ellis, leading to a brief scuffle between the two teams. Giants center John Michael Schmitz Jr. was also caught up in the commotion. NFL officials intervened and threw a penalty flag, resulting in Johnson being penalized for unnecessary roughness. Interestingly, no penalty was given to Ellis for his tackle. As a result, the Giants faced a 15-yard setback, effectively stifling their momentum.
Dart’s appearance marked his first game since a concussion suffered two weeks prior against the Chicago Bears. During that previous match, he had faced similar concerns while scrambling for yardage.
When asked about possibly adjusting his playing style in light of his recent injury, Dart reflected on his adaptation. “I’m still getting used to the game,” he explained. “The speed at this level is something else. Back in college, I didn’t have to run very often. But now, I realize I need to be a bit more cautious. Still, I feel like I’m improving every week.”
