Jackson Dart Sticks to His Guns After Being Benched
After being benched for the game against the New England Patriots on Monday night, New York Giants quarterback Jackson Dart expressed that he has no plans to alter his style of play. The topic resurfaced following a notable hit he took from Patriots linebacker Christian Ellis in the first quarter that led to a heated exchange among players. This incident raised some eyebrows, especially since Dart had missed the last two games due to a concussion and had been seen in a blue medical tent earlier for evaluation.
Even former NFL coach Jon Gruden took to social media, urging players to avoid such risky plays, yet Dart remained resolute.
“I get the question, but this is football. You’re going to get hit, whether you’re in the pocket or scrambling outside,” Dart stated. “That’s been my approach throughout my career. If you follow my journey, this shouldn’t be surprising. We’re playing a contact sport, and injuries can happen—it’s inherent to the game.”
The Giants’ performance was dismal, marking their worst showing of the season. Dart completed a touchdown pass to Darius Slayton in the first half, but the team was trailing at halftime with a score of 30-7. While they managed another touchdown and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, the inability of the defense to contain the Patriots significantly dampened their chances of a comeback.
Ultimately, the game ended with New England taking the win, 33-15.
