The mother of Brianna Aguilera, a 19-year-old Texas A&M sophomore, expressed her frustration regarding the lack of information about her daughter’s death, stating she is still “waiting for answers.” Brianna’s body was discovered in her Austin apartment just hours after she attended a university tailgate event.
Police have stated there are “no indications of suspicious circumstances” surrounding Aguilera’s death, which prompted an official response to a report of an unconscious person around 12:50 a.m. on Saturday. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“At this time, this incident is not being investigated as a homicide,” the Austin Police Department mentioned, adding that the cause of death will be determined by the Travis County Coroner’s Office, and that their investigation is ongoing.
Despite the police’s stance, Aguilera’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, feels that the situation doesn’t quite add up. A GoFundMe page has been established for the family, noting that Brianna attended the UT vs. Texas A&M tailgate, and her mother is still seeking clarity on the events that led to her daughter’s death.
Rodriguez has not pointed fingers directly at anyone, but her statements reflect her distress over the insufficient explanations about how her daughter was found just hours after she had been seen walking to school. In a heartfelt message on the fundraiser, she conveyed that the sudden loss has been a traumatic experience, echoing the painful reality that many parents fear.
She expressed appreciation for the community’s support during this challenging time, while acknowledging that she is still processing the limited information available to her. Rodriguez noted that her daughter had a significant impact on many lives and promised to keep supporters updated on funeral arrangements once they were set.
Amabeli Fernandes, the organizer of the fundraiser, indicated that the family is struggling as they await more information about Brianna’s passing. The GoFundMe highlighted the heartbreak, with Fernandes mentioning that they would leave the donations as they are to allow the family to grieve properly.
Brianna Aguilera was described as an ambitious student who graduated with honors from United High School in Laredo and was attending the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M. As of now, the police have not released further information regarding the ongoing investigation.
