Jada Pinkett Smith Hit with $3 Million Lawsuit
Jada Pinkett Smith is now facing a $3 million lawsuit from Bilal Salaam, a longtime friend of Will Smith. He alleges that she blackmailed him to remain silent about their marriage.
Salaam, who has known Will for nearly four decades and has collaborated with him on various personal and business endeavors, claims that Jada confronted him at a birthday party for Will on September 25, 2021, held at the Regency Calabasas Commons. Reports suggest that she warned him that if he “kept talking about his business,” he might “go missing” or “get hit by a bullet.”
It’s claimed that Jada arrived with a large entourage, during which she reportedly hurled insults and threats. Salaam insists that he asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement “or else,” and alleges that her team pursued him to his car, continuing to issue threats.
The situation intensified in March 2022 after Will declined a mutual friend’s request for help with “crisis management,” following his infamous altercation with Chris Rock at the Oscars. In legal documents cited by sources, Salaam mentioned that his conscience wouldn’t let him take part in any cover-up, asserting he refused to engage in anything he considered illegal or unethical.
He further claims that his refusal to comply ignited retaliatory actions from those close to the couple, leading to threats against him. Additional threats reportedly arose after news of his intention to write a “whistleblowing memoir” about his time with the Smiths began circulating.
A significant spike in tension occurred after Salaam’s appearance on “Unwine with Tasha K,” where he made claims about a past sexual encounter involving Jada and actor Duane Martin. Instead of pursuing legal action in response, Salaam alleges that Jada began a smear campaign against him through a nationally aired interview.
In his lawsuit, Salaam is seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, and he’s claiming various repercussions including financial losses, damage to his reputation, psychological distress, health issues, and what he describes as a “complete derailment of his personal life and career.”
