Chris Fischer made a joking reference to his divorce from Amy Schumer years before their issues became public.
To mark Schumer’s 40th birthday in June 2021, Fischer gifted her a cake with the message, “I’m breaking up with you. This was the only way I could think of.”
In a video Schumer shared on Instagram, her family sang “Happy Birthday” while she received a somewhat questionable chocolate cake from a chef.
As Fischer set the cake down, her son Gene, who is now 6, was on Schumer’s lap. Her demeanor shifted from cheerful to serious, although it was hard to tell if she was truly bothered or joking.
Recently, Schumer, who is working on her body transformation, deleted her older posts from Instagram, saying that she had “deleted” them for no reason.
She later shared a set of photos showcasing her modeling shots without wearing her wedding ring.
“Your Instagram isn’t your identity; it’s a curated version of what you want to show,” she explained. “I feel strong and beautiful, and sharing that has been fun.”
However, the Daily Mail brought to light there may be more beneath the surface.
A source told them, “Amy is completely divorced. She’s lost weight. She’s done. She deleted Chris from Instagram and everything else. She plans to file soon, but she’s finished.”
This source also mentioned that Fischer, 45, “is barely leaving the house right now. They’re constantly on the move.”
Another insider noted that Schumer hasn’t taken him to any red-carpet events for months.
“When women lose weight, their personalities tend to change,” another source said. “Amy has transformed since shedding pounds. She feels lighter and more at ease. I believe she desires more from life.”
Fischer and Schumer tied the knot in February 2018 and welcomed Gene in May 2019.
A different source claimed that Fischer’s autism “has become a minor issue in their relationship.”
Reacting to this report, Schumer used her Instagram Story to clarify, “Whatever transpired between Chris and me had nothing to do with weight loss or autism.”
On Tuesday, another source mentioned that there is “zero chance” of rectifying their marriage.
This source continued, “They’ve had issues for years… right now, they’re merely figuring out a conscious separation plan.”
Schumer and Fischer spent the summer of 2023 apart, vacationing with comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica. By the end of the summer, there were reports of attempts to mend their relationship, but they’ve since prioritized their children.
“Amy aims for the most amicable co-parenting relationship with Chris and is contemplating what would work best,” the source remarked.
Representatives for Schumer and Fischer did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
