Tennis Legend Margaret Court Voices Concerns
Tennis legend Margaret Court recently expressed her worries about the diminishing presence of Christian values in schools and the confusion stemming from progressive transgender ideologies affecting young people. She made her statements during an interview with the Telegraph published on Sunday.
“Christian values are being removed from our schools. Some children don’t even know if they are a boy or a girl,” she remarked, reflecting on her own childhood experiences.
This is what frustrates me. When I think back on my younger days, I was quite the tomboy. I played football and cricket, often outplaying the boys. Yet, I was aware of the differences between me and my two brothers. Nowadays, you hear kids saying, ‘I feel like a boy.’ Should they start hormone replacement therapy before they’ve even hit puberty? They’re kind of stuck in those bodies, and there’s no going back. We don’t let them drive until they’re 17, so why do we allow this for another human being? What’s happening to our young people? It brings me to tears.
In 2019, Court, who also serves as a Christian minister, voiced her opposition to transgender athletes competing in various sports, according to reports.
She commented, “I think LGBT individuals might wish they hadn’t added the T at the end, considering the multitude of challenges we face, particularly in women’s sports.”
She further discussed how children might have questions about their identity as they begin to transition.
“Even the inclusion of LGBT in schools is from the devil, not from God,” she remarked, adding, “The devil aims to control the state and infiltrate media, politics, education, and television to sway people’s hearts and words.”
In 2020, it was reported that Martina Navratilova, a tennis star and long-time advocate for gay rights, criticized Court’s views on transgender athletes, stating that her beliefs suggested that the sports community need not celebrate the achievements of Australians.
Transgender topics are increasingly impacting the sports landscape. Recently, the organizers of the World’s Strongest Woman contest rescinded Jamie Booker’s title after it was revealed that she was actually a man.
