Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem talked about a significant fraud scheme in Minnesota.
During a roundtable with President Donald Trump, Noem pointed fingers at Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.), suggesting that his leadership has contributed to the problem.
“You told me to investigate fraud with the state of Minnesota and Visa and its programs. About 50% of it is fraudulent. So, either that guy Governor (Tim) Walz is clueless or he allowed it to happen intentionally. I think he might be both,” Noem stated.
This revelation comes after over $1 billion from Minnesota’s COVID-19 aid program was misappropriated by numerous scammers connected to al-Shabaab.
Noem mentioned that discussions about the issue had taken place early on, but that Walz chose to stay quiet until a whistleblower exposed the extensive fraud occurring in Minneapolis.
In response, Noem has ramped up law enforcement efforts and initiated a federal investigation into the entire scandal, promising to recover every dollar while safeguarding Minnesota families from further exploitation.
