Golf influencer Paige Spiranac made a quiet gesture by donating her entire skin prize from the second day of the Barstool Sports Internet Invitational, which was around $15,000 to $16,000, to the Cody “Beef” Franke Foundation. This came after she faced accusations of cheating during the event’s finale, as mentioned by Barstool’s Frances Ellis.
In a recent episode of the “Son Of A Boy Dad” Podcast, Ellis shared how inspired she was by Spiranac’s actions, revealing her decision to make the donation public was fueled by the backlash she experienced for alleged misconduct. She mentioned, “With a little birdie, when we all got our skin money for the second day (15,000 or 16,000 per person), we found out that Paige Spiranac donated all of her skin money to Beef’s family.”
Franke, who had been a fellow golf influencer and co-host of Barstool’s podcast “Fore Play,” passed away following a sudden illness in October. Ellis, alongside Brad Dalke, had stepped in for Franke at the inaugural Barstool Internet Invitational, where the trio had collectively won a hefty prize of $1 million.
Lorne, co-host of the podcast, took a jab at Spiranac amidst the cheating allegations, saying, “There’s no better way to quell a dirty mind.” However, Ellis defended her, claiming Spiranac didn’t ask for any attention regarding the donation, explaining, “I had to tell the payroll person at Barstool how to give the money, and she just told the person, ‘Please send it to Beef’s family.’”
This incident, where Spiranac was accused of cheating by flattening high grass to give a competitor a clear shot, left her in tears, as she asserted she never touched the ball and intended no foul play. Although the moment was not captured on video, she later spoke about receiving “tens of thousands of death threats” because of the controversy.
