House Oversight Committee Chair Accuses Democrats of Selective Information Release
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has made accusations against Democrats regarding the selective release of information tied to Jeffrey Epstein. This statement followed the release of new photos and videos by Democrats that purportedly showcase never-before-seen views of Epstein’s private compound in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Comer mentioned to Fox News Digital that many of the images disclosed by the Democrats had already been made public by James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas and the current head of O’Keefe Media Group.
Images Released by House Democrats
Comer criticized the Democrats, claiming they are continuing to be “perplexed.” He remarked, “Throughout our investigative process, Democrats have cherry-picked documents and altered some of them. Now they’re just chasing headlines, calling images and videos previously reported by O’Keefe Media Group as ‘never seen before.’” He emphasized that it takes recklessness to make such claims.
The Democrats unveiled images from Epstein’s Little St. James island that included a dentist’s chair and rooms marked with terms like “power,” “deception,” and “appearance.”
Continued Investigation into Epstein
O’Keefe, in response, accused the Democratic Committee on X of featuring edited images, insisting he posted similar unedited photos earlier. Meanwhile, ranking member Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) expressed that these images offer a disturbing glimpse into Epstein’s world, underscoring the importance of transparency in the investigation.
Shortly after Fox News Digital sought a response from the oversight committee, the House Democrats announced that they would be providing over 150 additional photos and videos sourced from Epstein’s island.
This new batch includes a framed picture of Epstein with Ghislaine Maxwell meeting the Pope, along with several other images displaying art pieces and a computer showing a few security camera feeds. One photo depicted various items on a nightstand, such as a sleeping mask and tissues.
A spokesperson for the committee’s majority criticized the selective nature of the Democrats’ release, stating that about 5,000 documents related to the investigation would be shared soon. They pointed out past instances where cherry-picked documents led to misinformation against President Trump.
Ongoing Tensions
Comer has already made thousands of pages of documents available related to the committee’s investigation into Epstein. While Democrats had tie-ins with Epstein in the past, Comer and others in the GOP have suggested that the Democrats are obstructing a bipartisan investigation for political gain.
