Mike Lindell Files to Run for Minnesota Governor
The MyPillow CEO, Mike Lindell, has submitted his paperwork to run against incumbent Democratic Governor Tim Walz in Minnesota.
In an interview with CBS News, Lindell expressed some uncertainty, stating he isn’t “100% sure” about his candidacy just yet, but plans to make a clearer announcement next week.
“We have done our due diligence and things are looking very good so far,” he mentioned.
Walz, who previously ran unsuccessfully for vice president in 2024, has declared his intention to seek a third term.
Lindell is a well-known supporter of former President Donald Trump and has leveraged his wealth and notoriety to promote Trump’s policies. He has also hinted at running as a Republican for governor.
“I will definitely add election security to my platform! I just did a poll in Minnesota and ‘election security’ was the #3 concern!” he noted.
Aside from his successful pillow business, Lindell is recognized for promoting the theory that the 2020 election was manipulated against Trump through electronic voting machines. This led to legal battles with Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, amounting to $1.3 billion in damages claimed against him due to his accusations.
When Dominion first issued legal threats, Lindell stood firm, saying, “I want Dominion to sue because there is 100% evidence that China and other countries used Dominion’s machines to steal elections.”
He faced a judgment to pay $2.3 million to a former Dominion executive over allegations of election interference linked to his business.
The self-made millionaire has openly discussed his struggles with addiction in the past and admitted that he lost a significant portion of his wealth in an effort to support his views on the election and cover legal expenses.
“I’m devastated,” Lindell said during a court hearing in April, where he was ordered to pay over $53,000 to Smartmatic. “I borrowed everything I could. Nobody lends me money anymore… but I’m telling you, I don’t have any money.”
Meanwhile, Walz’s ratings have faced scrutiny, with some opinion polls indicating he holds the same level of support among voters as Lindell, amid accusations against Democrats regarding alleged electoral fraud in Minnesota.
