John Cena and Logan Paul’s Storyline Ahead of Cena’s Last Match
As John Cena approaches the end of his career, all eyes are on him, but Logan Paul is one of the few fortunate to share the spotlight. The YouTuber-turned-WWE star recently engaged in a storyline with Cena, who is set to have his final match on December 13th. Their relationship has shifted from friends to rivals, which adds an interesting dynamic.
On a recent episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Cena took a moment to criticize Paul ahead of their match scheduled for The Clash in Paris this August.
Despite losing, Paul described the experience as “a real honor” to face someone many consider one of the greatest. Reflecting on the match, he said, “It’s a shame we didn’t get the win. He was really good. Halfway through, I thought, ‘Wow, this guy is on another level.'” He is clear about his admiration, but also has a competitive edge. “But yeah, it’s John Cena. I won my match. Maybe next time I can convince him to come back so I can beat him. But he’s not interested in that.”
In a separate conversation, Paul spoke about possibly crashing the December 13th event, even with Gunther and LA Knight being set for the final match in the “Last Time is Now” tournament. “I’m not over it,” he admitted. Speculation was also raised about whether former President Trump might attend the final, given his known interest in martial arts and previous connections to WWE. Paul, who attended Trump’s inauguration, didn’t completely shut down the idea but hesitated, saying, “I feel like something is going to happen. But I don’t know how political WWE wants to be.” There’s a slight irony in his uncertainty, considering Trump was once inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for his role in WrestleMania 23.
Additionally, rumors are swirling that Edge, a notable rival of Cena, might make a return to WWE for the first time since 2023 to challenge Cena, which could make for some interesting developments in the coming weeks.
