Prince Harry Jests About Trump As America’s ‘King’
On Wednesday night, Prince Harry humorously remarked that President Donald Trump is akin to America’s “king.” This comment came during a guest appearance on CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where Harry playfully criticized the American people for their choice of leader.
In the segment, while discussing his desire to act in a Hallmark Christmas movie, Harry quipped, “I can’t say we’re obsessed with royalty,” to which Colbert humorously acknowledged the crowd’s booing by saying, “Really? I heard you elected the king.”
This jab resonates with the sentiments expressed during the “No Kings” protests in October, where numerous critics of Trump gathered nationwide, asserting their opposition to the president’s second-term policies.
Harry referenced the American Revolutionary War, making a playful nod to his ancestor, King George III, saying, “You made a big deal about my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather.” Colbert shot back, “Well, he was kind of an asshole,” to which Harry laughed and said, “Okay, leave me alone.”
Later in the conversation, Harry joked about his aspirations in acting, even claiming he would “sue the Trump administration” to secure a role. He remarked on the lengths celebrities go to land roles, including making self-tapes and handling lawsuits, indirectly pointing at CBS’s earlier settlement with Trump following a related lawsuit.
Colbert retorted to Harry’s comments about suing Trump with a light-hearted jab, leading to another playful exchange where Harry teased Colbert about his show’s impending cancellation. The back-and-forth highlighted the intertwining of politics and entertainment in a casual yet pointed manner.
