Documentary Explores Republican Strategy to Enhance America's Influence in Cryptocurrency

Documentary Highlights GOP’s Push for Crypto Leadership

A documentary titled “Crypto Capital” was showcased during the Great Opportunity Policy Christmas Party on Tuesday, focusing on Republican initiatives aimed at establishing the U.S. as a leader in the emerging crypto industry.

The event featured prominent Congressional figures, including Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), and Tim Scott (R-SC), alongside various members from Capitol Hill, the administration, media, and crypto professionals. Senator Jon Husted (R-Ohio) also made an appearance.

“Everything else hasn’t evolved: the way we communicate, the technology we use, the way we move money,” remarked Beau Hines, former executive director of the President’s Advisory Council on Digital Assets.

In the film, former President Donald Trump expresses his desire for America to lead in the realm of cryptocurrencies. Vice President J.D. Vance notes that approximately 50 million Americans own Bitcoin and predicts that this number will rise to 100 million soon.

Lummis, Scott, and Hagerty emphasized that the U.S. regulatory framework for the crypto sector has long been necessary. This includes regulations for stablecoins, which are digital assets meant to maintain the value of fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar but can be transferred more quickly than traditional banking methods.

“Stablecoins have the potential to strengthen the hegemony of the dollar,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated.

Scott and Congressional Republicans successfully advanced the GENIUS Act to clarify regulations pertaining to stablecoins despite facing resistance from anti-crypto politicians like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

Lummis credited Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) as crucial in the Senate’s approval of the bill.

“This establishes the US dollar as the preferred currency in the digital space,” Hagerty added.

The documentary hinted at ongoing Republican efforts to introduce the Digital Asset Market Transparency Act, which aims to create a clearer market structure for the crypto landscape.

Scott asserted, “The market structure is clearer and innovators can innovate here in America.” He also criticized the past four years under President Biden, claiming they created a chilling effect on innovation.

In a conversation with Breitbart News, Scott claimed Democrats are “trying to put coal in America’s stocking” by hindering pro-growth policy advancements like the market structure bill.
