Trump awarded FIFA Peace Prize during World Cup draw

On Friday, the World Cup final draw took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. During this event, President Donald Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino awarded Trump not only a trophy featuring a golden hand holding a soccer ball but also a medal that the President promptly donned.

The certificate that accompanied the FIFA Peace Prize acknowledged Trump as an exceptional individual whose leadership reflects a steadfast dedication to fostering peace and unity globally on behalf of countless soccer enthusiasts.

In his remarks, President Trump expressed, “This is truly one of the great honors of my life.” He also mentioned that, in discussions with Infantino, they reflected on the lives they believed they had saved and noted, “We’ve managed to end numerous wars, sometimes just before they were set to begin.”

Trump is also preparing to host the upcoming World Cup, which will involve the United States, Canada, and Mexico. An executive order he signed in March established a task force, with him as the chairman and Vice President J.D. Vance as vice chairman. Rudy Giuliani’s son was appointed as the executive director, overseeing daily operations.

Out of the 16 cities selected to host matches, 11 will be situated in the U.S. Previously, Trump had suggested that games might be relocated from cities deemed unsafe. However, upon arriving at the Kennedy Center, he expressed his strong belief in the safety of those cities and promised federal support if necessary.

The championship match is slated for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This international tournament, spanning North America, is set to kick off in June 2026 and will mark the first World Cup hosted in multiple countries in over two decades.
