Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has detained seven more criminal illegal immigrants in Minneapolis as part of Operation Metro Surge. Among those arrested are individuals described as “pedophiles, gang members, and drug traffickers.”
On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed its latest list of the “worst of the worst,” which features criminals from various countries including Somalia, Venezuela, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized local leaders, stating, “Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey protected criminals at the expense of the safety of the American people.” She conveyed a message from President Trump and Secretary Noem to illegal aliens who commit crimes: “Leave now, or we will find you, arrest you, and deport you.”
Among those arrested is Abdi Gere Mohamed, who, along with Sahar Osman Sidan, both of Somali descent, has been convicted of sexual abuse involving minors. Mukhtar Mohamed Ali, also from Somalia, has a history of robbery and domestic assault.
ICE reported on Andrew Javier Padrón Chacare, a Venezuelan native and previously deported member of the Torren de Aragua gang, who was convicted of theft. Ecuadorian Job Catani Cárdenas was convicted on various charges, while Humberto Disla Sarita from the Dominican Republic faced domestic violence and drug trafficking charges.
Additionally, Ernesto Vides-Cabrera, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, has been found guilty of drunk driving and assault. These arrests follow an earlier announcement by DHS about detaining at least 12 illegal immigrants in Minneapolis, including individuals from Somalia, Mexico, and El Salvador.
This week, the Justice Department also brought federal charges against Abdimahat Bir Mohamed, a convicted sex offender from Minnesota, accused of kidnapping and raping a woman he met on Snapchat. He had previously been found guilty of unrelated sexual assault charges but was allowed to serve his sentence without prison time under a plea deal.
