Biden makes a slip during his speech at a DC LGBTQ+ conference by saying 'United States of Amerigotit'

Former President Biden Speaks at LGBTQ+ Leadership Conference

At the International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference held in Washington, D.C., former President Joe Biden recently made headlines with a verbal slip, stating, “We are the United States of America.” This comment was made during a speech where he encouraged elected officials and supporters to persist in their fight for equality.

Biden, whose words appeared slightly slurred, urged the audience to “keep fighting.” He said, “We just have to stand up. As long as we keep our faith…and remember who we are. We are the United States of America, that’s who we are! We are America!”

Continuing his call to action, he emphasized the need to “fight back” against policies from the Trump administration. “We are all disappointed with the current state of the union,” he remarked. “It’s not the time to give up. It’s the time to stand up. Let’s stand up and fight back. What is that fight about? … It’s about defending the Constitution. It’s about defending the Constitution.”

Biden also criticized Trump and his supporters for attempting to “distort and derail our fight for equality” and for supposedly further dividing the nation. He remarked, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republican Party are trying to distort and derail our fight for equality. They want to turn it into something horrible, something evil. But folks, it’s really not that complicated. It’s about ensuring that every American is treated with basic decency, dignity, and respect.” His tone suggested a deep personal conviction on the matter.

The former president was honored with the Chris Abel Impact Award at the event, recognizing his efforts to advance LGBTQ+ rights throughout his presidency. Named after Chris Abele, a board member of LGBTQ+ Victory Action, the award symbolizes notable contributions in the community.
