Christian Slater Reflects on Life’s Priorities Amid Hollywood’s Challenges

Christian Slater believes that concentrating on what truly matters is key to navigating the ups and downs of Hollywood. At the 2025 Gotham Awards, he shared with Page Six, “I’m thinking about my family,” underscoring his love for family life.

The 56-year-old actor has a blended family with four children: Jaden, 26, and Eliana, 24, from his previous marriage to Ryan Haddon, along with sons Lena, 6, and a one-year-old with his current wife, Brittany Lopez. He feels that prioritizing family keeps him grounded.

Slater described fatherhood as “amazing,” stating that he doesn’t want to look back later in life with regrets like, “I wish I had done this.” Instead, he hopes to reflect on the time spent with his kids with gratitude.

Beginning his career as a teenager in the 1980s, Slater featured in significant films like “Heathers,” “True Romance,” and “The Name of the Rose.” More recently, he gained acclaim for his role in the cult hit series “Mr. Robot” and is currently seen in “Dexter: Original Sin.”

Commenting on his journey, he noted, “You have to appreciate every moment as much as possible. Try to stay present and enjoy what you do. I feel blessed.” He attended the Gotham Awards, where he mingled with other stars like Jacob Elordi, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Lawrence for his role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.”

In the film’s storyline, Slater plays a husband who struggles to connect with his ailing daughter, portrayed by Rose Byrne. The movie also features cameos from Conan O’Brien and A$AP Rocky.
