Repeat Offender Charged with Stabbing on Charlotte Train

Man Arrested After Stabbing Incident on Charlotte Light Rail

Just a few months after the tragic stabbing of a young Ukrainian refugee on Charlotte’s light rail, a homeless individual with a history of criminal activity has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man on the same train tracks.

Oscar Solrazano, a 33-year-old man from Honduras, was taken into police custody on charges including attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, carrying a concealed weapon, and public intoxication. Reports indicate he is currently being held without bail.

According to authorities, Solrazano entered the Blue Line light rail station while intoxicated late Friday, confronted the victim, and then stabbed him with a substantial knife. Officials state that this incident was not random violence but stemmed from an argument between the two men.

The victim is recovering and remains in stable condition at a local hospital, according to reports.

Interestingly, Solrazano’s registered address aligns with a homeless shelter in the area. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained him to prevent his return to the streets, though concerns remain about whether that will be upheld.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem expressed serious concern, stating, “This brutal stabbing by a twice-removed illegal alien should never have happened. ICE has filed a detainer to stop Mr. Solrazano from being released into the community. Unfortunately, given the local government’s history, there’s no guarantee this will be enforced.”

The incident has also drawn attention from President Donald Trump, who commented on social media about the situation in Charlotte, attributing the city’s issues to Democratic leadership.

Solrazano’s past includes multiple arrests and convictions, including for aggravated assault and robbery. He had been ordered deported in 2018, removed again in 2021 for illegal entry, and has since returned illegally to the country.

This incident follows the distressing murder of 23-year-old Irina Zalutka, a Ukrainian refugee, in August, who was fatally attacked by a suspect on the same Blue Line. The suspect in that case was charged with first-degree murder, bolstered by surveillance evidence.
