Trump Hosts Kennedy Center Honors Gala
President Donald Trump was at the 48th Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday, mingling with a lineup of notable actors, country music stars, and other entertainment heavyweights. Walking the red carpet alongside First Lady Melania Trump, he expressed a desire to take a breather before diving into hosting duties.
When asked about his speech for the event, he jokingly remarked, “Maybe I’m not ready,” suggesting perhaps a bit of hesitation. Celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, and Kelsey Grammer were among those who graced the carpet at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.
Kelsey Grammer’s High Praise for Trump
Kelsey Grammer, during the ceremony, praised Trump as “one of the greatest presidents ever.” It was quite the night to celebrate, with medals presented to honorees at a prior Oval Office ceremony, described as “the most distinguished class” in the Center’s history.
Stallone brought his wife Jennifer Flavin, and together, they embraced the night’s festivities. Country legend George Strait made an appearance too, donning his iconic black cowboy hat while escorting his wife, Norma.
Meanwhile, music icon Andrea Bocelli stole the moment with an impromptu performance in the Oval Office during his visit.
Strait’s success in the music industry includes more than 60 number-one singles, and he flashed broad smiles while posing with his family.
Neal McDonough, known for “The Last Rodeo,” arrived with his wife Rube. It was a glamorous evening with Gloria Gaynor shining in a stunning pale pink attire. On the red carpet, KISS’s Gene Simmons, wearing dark sunglasses, strolled alongside his wife Shannon Tweed.
Speaking with reporters, Grammer was complimentary of Trump, calling him, well, extraordinary. “He still has some things he wants to accomplish,” he noted, hinting at a long road ahead.
Grammer also shared excitement over Stallone’s recognition, noting he had a role in the selection process. “He is a force of nature,” he said, admiring Stallone’s talent in various roles throughout his career.
In a fun twist, the awards ceremony included the unveiling of a new medal, a gold disc featuring images from the Kennedy Center, created by Tiffany & Co. The night seemed to blend celebration with a touch of reflection on the past, merging the realms of politics and entertainment in a uniquely American way.
