Obituary for Nicole Lynn Allenbaugh
Nicole Lynn Allenbaugh, 32, from Piqua, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at Kettering Health Center in Kettering, Ohio, after a lengthy and brave fight against cancer. She was born on April 28, 1993, in Greenville, Ohio, to Michael T. and Connie A. (Houshel) Apple.
Nicole graduated from Covington High School and the Upper Valley JVS in 2012, focusing on Environmental Occupations. Her formative years were spent on her family’s dairy farm, where she developed a strong work ethic, patience, and a deep commitment to those she loved. She also held positions at the Miami County Park District and Home Depot, but it was at A.M. Leonard that she truly felt at home, forming lasting friendships over her decade of work there.
On June 14, 2014, she wed Eric Allenbaugh, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Eric and their two children, Madeline “Maddie” and Mitchell, were the center of her world.
Nicole loved the outdoors, especially the memories created while teaching her children to fish, swim, and appreciate nature’s simple joys. She enjoyed working alongside Eric on the farm, whether she was searching for interesting rocks with the kids, managing a grain cart, or helping with equipment. Her quiet strength and compassionate nature were evident in her interactions; she didn’t seek the spotlight, but her kindness and dedication resonated with everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband Eric, their children Maddie and Mitchell, her paternal grandmother, Wanda F. (Huff) Apple; her maternal grandparents, John and Sandra (Link) Houshel; and her sisters, Kylie (Brandon) Bitzow, Jessica (Cameron Stittums) Apple, and Kristina (Michael Baker) Apple. Additionally, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews: Amaya, Jayla, Kaiser, Hank, Lillian, Elijah, Gavin, and Gunner, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and friends who cherished her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Nelson N. Apple; great-grandparents Henry W. and Ina P. Apple; maternal great-grandparents Edward and Helen Link; a nephew, Abel Yingst; and a cousin, Courtney McClelland.
A service to celebrate her life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, led by Pastor Christine Mertz. Burial will occur at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Lockington New Beginnings Church, or Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, Inc. Condolences and expressions of sympathy can be shared through the funeral home’s online guestbook.
