Janice Combs Defends Sean “Diddy” Combs Against Abuse Allegations

Janice Combs, mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has come forward to refute claims of abuse made against her son in a recent Netflix documentary titled *Sean Combs: The Reckoning*, which premiered on December 2, 2025.

In a statement released over the weekend, the 85-year-old expressed her concerns about the portrayal of Sean’s upbringing and family life. She noted, “These inaccuracies about my son were deliberately made to mislead viewers and further damage our reputation.”

She specifically addressed allegations by Kirk Burrows, co-founder of Bad Boy Records, who claimed that Sean, now 56, had physically assaulted her during a conversation about the rapper’s past actions. Janice declared these statements to be “inaccurate and demonstrably false.”

“That day was really tragic for everyone involved,” she stated, referring to a past incident where multiple people died in a crowd stampede at City College.

Janice further criticized Bad Boy Records for, what she called, the exploitation of this tragedy, which she believes perpetuates a false narrative about their family. “I demand that these distorted, false and misleading statements be publicly retracted,” she insisted.

In the documentary, Burrows recounts a moment from Sean’s early foray into the music industry, claiming he witnessed the rapper strike his mother during a heated discussion concerning his career path.

Burrows is currently involved in several legal disputes against Sean, Janice, and others, with serious accusations including sexual abuse, physical assault, and fraud surrounding ownership of the record label.

In a more nuanced picture, Burrows stated that in 1996, Sean coerced him under duress to relinquish 25% ownership of Bad Boy Entertainment. He also accused Janice of conspiring to control his stock in the company and hiding fraud.

In March, Burrows detailed what he described as a “very disturbing pattern” of misbehavior from Sean, spanning a year and involving various forms of abuse. Meanwhile, Sean’s legal team has dismissed Burrows’ claims as “frivolous,” asserting that they are merely attempts to revive claims already rejected in court.

As for Sean, he is currently serving a 50-month sentence, specifically related to charges of prostitution, with a release date set for June 2028.

*Sean Combs: The Reckoning* is presently available for streaming on Netflix.
