Utah Father Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Sex Offender
A father from Utah is in serious trouble after allegedly stabbing a sex offender 17 times. The incident reportedly stemmed from comments the offender made about the man’s daughter.
Thad James Gurule, 32, is accused of attacking the unidentified man near a shed after he invited him for a walk and some food. Court documents reveal Gurule had intended to kill the man over his remarks regarding his daughter.
During questioning, Gurule reportedly told the victim to “think twice before commenting about my daughter,” indicating that he had thought about the attack beforehand.
Authorities responded to a home in Wellington, Utah, around 12:20 a.m. on December 1, discovering the victim with multiple stab wounds and severe lacerations. He was rushed to a hospital, where staff confirmed he sustained 17 stab wounds. There hasn’t been any further information released on his recovery.
Interestingly, the victim mentioned that he had previously seen Gurule at the post office but didn’t know him by name. Once police identified him, they interviewed Gurule at his home. Initially, he denied the accusation but later admitted to the assault, explaining he had searched online and found out the man was a registered sex offender.
Gurule eventually conceded that he discarded the knife at the scene. The authorities charged him with attempted murder based on evidence suggesting the attack was premeditated.
According to police statements, “He confessed and said he intended to kill him as protection for his daughter.”
Additionally, while executing a search warrant at Gurule’s home, police allegedly found methamphetamine and other drug-related items, which led to further charges. Gurule has since been booked into the Carbon County Jail.
The Daily Caller reached out to the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office regarding the situation but was directed to the Wellington Police Department, who have yet to respond to inquiries.
