Kenyon Dobie was a good Samaritan attempting to intervene with Oscar Solarzano, according to prosecutors.

A man was stabbed by a homeless undocumented immigrant on a light rail train in North Carolina last week while trying to protect other passengers, according to prosecutors.

Kenyon Doby, 24, from Charlotte, shared that he is in critical condition, with blood being pumped through his lungs via a tube.

He mentioned on a GoFundMe page, “My body has sustained significant damage. I have tubes running through my chest to a machine that pumps blood from my lungs.”

Prosecutors stated that Oscar Solrazano, 33, originally from Honduras, was intoxicated and yelling at passengers when Doby intervened, telling him to stop.

During a recent hearing, it was revealed that Solrazano stabbed Doby in the chest as a response to his interruption. Reports indicate that Solrazano had previously been banned from the light rail system.

This ban was a result of his lengthy criminal record, which includes multiple arrests, robbery convictions, and deportations.

After the attack, Solrazano fled the scene but was apprehended by police, where he allegedly confessed to the assault, appearing intoxicated and disheveled.

This incident occurred just months after the murder of Irina Zalutka, a Ukrainian refugee, who was also stabbed on a different train in Charlotte.

Tricia Lockwood, from the Department of Homeland Security, noted that Solrazano had been deported twice from the U.S. and returned illegally a third time.

Lockwood detailed his troubling history, which includes various charges like aggravated assault, robbery, and illegal reentry.

Now, Solrazano faces serious new charges including attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond.

Four months earlier, Irina Zalutka had also been fatally stabbed by a man with a criminal background in circumstances that shocked the community.

Authorities confirmed that this man had attacked Zalutka as she sat on the train, absorbed in her phone, before leaving the scene calmly.
