A Controversial Children’s Book on Abortion
A progressive abortion advocacy group is set to release a children’s book that portrays abortion as a “superpower.” The book, titled Abortion is Everything, is aimed at kids from ages 5 to 8 and will start shipping in January 2026. According to the organization’s website, the book seeks to explain “what abortion is, what it feels like, and why people have abortions.”
The description states:
With language that’s easy to understand and inclusive, Abortion is Everything presents abortion as a unique human superpower — the ability to envision the future and make choices that align with one’s dreams. It emphasizes that “abortion is a tool that enables individuals to shape their destinies, ultimately influencing the world around us.”
Parents, caregivers, and educators have been looking for resources to help discuss abortion with children, particularly amidst the ongoing political debates surrounding the topic.
The book is authored by artist and educator Rachel Kessler along with activist Amelia Bonneau, featuring illustrations by Emily Noakes. It includes vibrant watercolor-style art intended to ignite children’s creativity, while also teaching acceptance of abortion as a positive outcome.
“…Abortion is Everything introduces the idea of abortion in a manner that helps parents and children redefine cultural narratives about abortion at a foundational level,” the description indicates.
An announcement suggests a cry for abortion on Friday. Anyone who contributes $100 or more to their year-end campaign will receive a signed hardcover copy of the newly released book.
Founded in 2016, Shout Your Abortion is focused on eliminating the stigma around abortion. Their “About Us” section encourages activists to create a community aimed at enhancing resources, funding abortions, sharing information about pills, and sustaining independent clinics.
