Jasmine Crockett Kicks Off Senate Campaign with Sarcastic Ad
Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett announced her Senate campaign on Monday, releasing a sarcastic advertisement that highlights former President Donald Trump’s past comments about her, resulting in a variety of reactions online.
The announcement came via a video shared on X, featuring Crockett with Trump’s derogatory remarks playing in the background. In the ad, Trump’s voice can be heard saying, “What about this new thing they have? Their new star, Crockett. What about her? She’s Jasmine Crockett, the new star of the Democratic Party. They’re in big trouble.” Additionally, he adds, “Someone said the other day, she is one of the leaders of the party. I said I was kidding.”
The ad seemed to resonate well with liberal commentators, who praised it as a strong campaign launch. Political strategist Adam Parkhomenko remarked, “Republicans should fear Jasmine Crockett is running for U.S. Senate. She’s smart, fearless, relentless, and won’t back down from anyone. This is the matchup Texas deserves. Let’s go.”
On the flip side, the ad also drew ridicule from conservative critics. Commentator Matt Walsh expressed his unexpected agreement, stating, “I never thought I’d say this, but I agree with every word of this Jasmine Crockett ad.”
In a recent event, Crockett remarked, “The gloves are off. I’m going to jump into the ring,” as she invited attendees to support her quest to become Texas’s next U.S. senator. She emphasized that while many label Texas as a red state, it doesn’t reflect the reality that many Texans aren’t casting their votes.
Reflecting on her decision to run, she stated, “I could have played it safe and stayed in Congress as long as the voters supported me, but I didn’t choose to do that because in this moment that we’re in right now, Texas is life or death, it’s all or nothing. Now or forever? We are at a crossroads.”
The upbeat launch event also included a spontaneous performance by musician Cameron MacLeod, who delivered a rap that addressed the challenges Crockett faces, mentioning, “They think she’s going to win, so they’re just trying to scare her away.”
Crockett’s campaign is making waves, and her approach appears to set the tone for what’s to come as she gears up for a competitive Senate race.
