ENGLEWOOD, Calif. — In a tightly contested matchup, Cameron Dicker nailed a 54-yard field goal to secure a 22-19 victory for the Los Angeles Chargers against the struggling Philadelphia Eagles. Dicker’s kick was one of five he made during the game, while Tony Jefferson’s interception halted Jalen Hurts at the 1-yard line, sealing the deal for Los Angeles.
The Chargers (9-4) managed to overcome a neutral zone violation penalty from Odafe Oweh that allowed the Eagles a crucial first down on fourth-and-4. Just moments later, Hurts attempted a deep throw to Jahan Dotson, who was double-covered, but Jefferson’s footplay ensured the game ended in favor of the Chargers.
Hurts struggled throughout the game, throwing four interceptions as the Eagles committed five turnovers. This loss marks the third in a row for the defending Super Bowl champions, dropping their record to 8-5.
With just 12 seconds remaining, Dicker hit a 46-yard field goal, enabling the game to extend into overtime with a tie at 19-19 after Jake Elliott’s earlier 44-yard field goal had put the Eagles ahead.
Elliott contributed significantly as well, making four field goals amidst a crowd filled with Eagles fans at SoFi Stadium.
Saquon Barkley gave the Eagles their first lead in the fourth quarter with a 52-yard touchdown run, pushing the score to 16-13.
Meanwhile, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert completed 12 of 26 attempts for 138 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, all while battling the limitations of a surgically repaired left hand. He also added 66 rushing yards on 10 carries.
On the other side, Hurts went 21-of-40 for 240 yards and faced a chaotic first quarter where he recorded two turnovers on a single play—Dashawn Hand intercepted Hurts and subsequently fumbled, only for Hurts to recover and then lose the ball again. Ultimately, Troy Dye recovered for the Chargers.
In the second half, the Chargers leveled the score at 16-16 with Dicker’s 31-yard field goal with 7:26 left in the game.
Elliott’s successful kicks included distances of 41, 30, and 54 yards, helping to break the Eagles’ two-game losing streak and reigniting their playoff aspirations.
Overall, both teams faced notable turnovers—the Eagles had five, while the Chargers notched three. Barkley managed to rack up 122 yards on 20 carries, bouncing back after lower performances in previous games against the Cowboys and Bears. Back on October 26th, he achieved 150 yards against the New York Giants.
