Quentin Jammer casually reveals that he was extremely drunk during eight games in one season.

Perhaps this sheds light on why Quentin Jammer, the former Chargers cornerback, didn’t snag any interceptions in 2011.

On Monday night, Jammer unapologetically shared on X that he had been drinking during at least half of that season’s games. He tweeted, “True story… In 2011, I played at least eight games completely inebriated.”

During his 12 years with the Chargers, Jammer made quite an impression. He later responded to fans’ questions about his revelation, mentioning that he has been sober for two years now. He recounted a personal struggle during that time, hinting at a divorce and even joking about his preferences for tequila or “good” bourbon.

His tweets made it clear that drinking wasn’t just a pre-game ritual; he shared, “There are two tequila bottles in the bag,” adding, “I drank the whole game, and I drank all the way home.” He implied the Chargers were aware of some of the personal turmoil he was going through, remarking, “Trust me, you all would have done 100% the same thing.”

In a game against the Bears that season, he noted he was indeed drunk. His mention of divorce aligns with past reports. A 2012 piece from Pro Football Talk highlighted that Jammer’s divorce had affected his performance and increased his drinking.

“I tried to get out of the situation, clear the cobwebs and just think,” he told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “But I had so much to deal with and so many thoughts in my head that I couldn’t concentrate.” He further elaborated on feeling overwhelmed and not anticipating such a difficult journey.

In his candid admission, he claimed he played while intoxicated during the Chargers’ 31-20 loss on November 20, 2011. According to Pro Football Talk, he shared that the game went blank for him because he was “mentally too worked up.”

Jammer’s transparency sparked numerous interactions with fans, and he seemed taken aback by various responses to his admission. He commented on X, expressing his frustration with some of the backlash and invited followers to engage or block him as they chose.

Drafted fifth overall in 2002, Jammer spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the Chargers before concluding his career with the Broncos in 2013, finishing with 21 interceptions across 183 games.
