Greene Expresses Shock Over Trump’s Response to Death Threats

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene voiced her surprise on Tuesday regarding President Donald Trump’s reaction to a text she sent him concerning death threats targeting her family amid a public dispute.

“I was really taken aback,” Greene said. “I texted him directly about these threats, pointing out how his name-calling was a direct trigger. One of them was a death threat aimed at my son. His response was… well, I won’t repeat his words. It was quite harsh. No sympathy, no concern at all,” she shared during a CNN interview.

In a “60 Minutes” segment that aired on Sunday, Greene revealed she reached out to Trump to highlight the seriousness of the threats. She also mentioned her intention to resign from Congress come January.

During the interview, CNN’s Pamela Brown prompted Greene for further details regarding her earlier exchange. Greene noted that Trump referred to her as a “traitor” after she expressed support for releasing Epstein files and subsequently rescinded her backing.

Greene’s Disappointment

“Honestly, I’m still shocked by his lack of kindness and judgment,” Greene commented. “I also sent the same death threat messages to his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, and her deputy, James Blair. They didn’t respond at all. I mean, I would’ve expected some acknowledgment, especially from someone like Susie, who is a mother and grandmother.”

While Greene recognized that they likely wouldn’t pick sides as they work for Trump, she appreciated the thoughtful response from Vice President J.D. Vance. Additionally, Greene mentioned that FBI Director Kash Patel responded affirmatively to her concerns.

A White House representative indicated that the messages Greene referred to had been forwarded to the FBI.

Concerns About Party Dynamics

During her chat with “60 Minutes” host Leslie Stahl, Greene observed that many Republicans are “afraid” to speak their minds about Trump. “The things I’ve heard Congressional Republicans say about him in private would surprise many,” Greene remarked.

She continued, noting, “I witnessed colleagues mock him and even ridicule me for my support. Yet after he triumphed in the 2024 primary, I saw them change their tune completely—some even started saying they’d wear MAGA hats. It’s kind of unreal.”
