Playoff Stakes Heighten as Week 15 Approaches
For several teams eyeing playoff qualification as the season nears its end in January, the pressure is on—it’s now or never. As Week 15 unfolds, significant implications are at play.
Interestingly, no team has clinched a playoff spot just yet, but that could soon change.
The Denver Broncos (11-2), New England Patriots (11-2), and Los Angeles Rams (10-3) are all in contention for postseason spots as they head into Sunday’s games.
For the Broncos, they can secure a playoff berth with a win or tie against either the Los Angeles Chargers or Jacksonville Jaguars. If both the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts lose or tie, Denver’s chance of making it increases significantly. However, there’s a bit of a quirk—both Texans and Colts can’t end up with the same result.
If the Patriots secure a victory, they’ll snag the AFC East title. Even a loss against the Chargers won’t eliminate them—their path to the playoffs also includes possible ties against the Texans or Colts. If they tie while the Jaguars lose, the Patriots will be in, too. Yet again, both the Texans and Colts can’t be tied at season’s end.
The Rams have a clearer route; they simply need to beat the Detroit Lions to reach the postseason.
Winning this week is crucial not just for these teams, but it has ripple effects on the standings.
