Homeland Security Signs Deal for Boeing Aircraft for Deportations

The Department of Homeland Security has finalized an agreement to buy Boeing aircraft aimed at continuing the Trump administration’s deportation strategies, according to recent reports.

“It’s encouraging to see the media spotlighting our cost-effective approaches to address the mass deportation of criminal illegal aliens,” stated Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the department.

She also mentioned that this initiative would enhance operations for ICE, reportedly allowing for more efficient flight routes and saving taxpayers about $279 million.

Reports indicate that the deal includes six Boeing 737 planes, with funding stemming from a comprehensive bill approved by Congress and signed by President Trump last July. This legislation supports various initiatives related to taxes, immigration, energy, and national debt.

Congress allocated $170 billion for multiple border and immigration efforts, according to the information provided.

The contract was awarded to Daedalus Aviation, a Virginia-based aviation service established in 2024. Attempts by Fox News Digital to reach Daedalus for further comments were unsuccessful.

McLaughlin expressed that both President Trump and Secretary Noem remain dedicated to swiftly removing illegal aliens involved in criminal activities.

During his 2024 campaign, Trump focused on curbing illegal immigration, particularly emphasizing the influx seen during the Biden administration. A report from the Pew Research Center indicated that, under Biden, the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. could reach 14 million by 2023.

From the beginning of his term, Trump’s administration has sought to detain and deport millions of illegal immigrants, reversing Biden-era restrictions with an executive order. Reports show that over 1,700 deportation flights have occurred since January 20, although these actions have attracted legal challenges.

Critics, including Democrats, have condemned these deportation initiatives, particularly around events like the Los Angeles riots earlier this June. Local leaders, such as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, have voiced support for illegal immigrants while condemning federal immigration enforcement.

Newsom, in a July interview, remarked on the aggressive tactics of federal agents, stating, “They’re riding around on horses with American flags and scaring kids who are just playing football. It’s a show of strength that feels more like weakness.”

McLaughlin recently noted that over 2 million illegal immigrants have either been deported or voluntarily left the U.S. since Trump assumed office again. “The numbers don’t lie—this showcases the effectiveness of Trump’s policies and Noem’s leadership in making our communities safer,” she added.

“Focusing on the worst offenders is helping us remove more criminal illegal aliens from our streets daily, sending a message to others that they should either leave or face arrest and deportation,” she concluded.
