U.S. Military Seizes Oil Tanker Off Venezuela

According to President Donald Trump, the U.S. military has seized an oil tanker near Venezuela’s coast. This development is part of a broader effort to combat narco-terrorism linked to the Venezuelan government, aimed particularly at drug trafficking into the United States.

During his statements, Trump remarked on the tanker, which he claimed was the largest ever confiscated. He noted, “This oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States for several years for its involvement in an illegal oil transportation network supporting foreign terrorist organizations.”

Trump went on to provide minimal details about the operation, although he assured that more information would be available soon. “It was seized for a very good reason,” he added, emphasizing the strategic importance of the action.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi later elaborated, revealing that federal agencies, including the FBI and the U.S. Coast Guard, were involved in executing the warrant for the tanker. This vessel was reportedly used to transport oil sanctioned by both Venezuela and Iran.

Bondi’s statement underlined the rationale behind the seizure, reiterating the ongoing investigation into the illegal oil transport and its connections to international terrorism. She assured the public that the operation was conducted safely and that collaboration with Homeland Security would continue.

In a separate interview, Trump made a bold claim about Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, suggesting that he does not have much time left in power.

On another note, the administration faces criticism from Democrats, who have accused it of committing war crimes in its strikes against alleged drug traffickers. They point to incidents where survivors were killed in subsequent attacks, raising concerns about legality.

As a part of their efforts against Maduro, the Trump administration has placed a $50 million bounty on his arrest.
