Sherrone Moore controversy raises inquiries about Bryce Underwood's future

Michigan’s College Football Scene in Turmoil

A recent controversy involving Sherone Moore has shaken the college football landscape, particularly raising questions about Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood’s future as the transfer portal nears.

Underwood had an impressive freshman year, passing for 2,229 yards and nine touchdowns, while also rushing for 323 yards and adding five more touchdowns. The Wolverines ended the season with a 9-3 record and are set to face the Texas Longhorns in the Citrus Bowl.

Moore was dismissed from his position after the athletic director, Ward Manuel, cited an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Following this, he faced legal issues, landing in jail during an “assault investigation” in Pittsfield, Michigan, according to police reports.

In light of these events, former LSU Tigers star Tyrann Mathieu used social media to suggest that Underwood might want to transfer to LSU, his former commitment. Mathieu wrote, “Come home son @BryceUnderwood. We are waiting and will accept you with open arms. Forever LSU.”

Underwood originally chose LSU before playing for Moore, who had noted at the time, “The best players in Michigan go to Michigan.” It remains uncertain what Underwood’s next step will be amidst all this upheaval.

Born in Detroit, Underwood played his high school football in Michigan and was named Michigan High School Player of the Year twice.
