John Fetterman Criticizes Liberal Podcaster's Assault on Erika Kirk: 'Disgusting and Dehumanizing'

Senator John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) expressed strong disapproval of a left-wing podcast host’s comments targeting Erica Kirk, the widow of late conservative figure Charlie Kirk, labeling them as “terrible and inhumane.”

“It’s incredibly inhumane to attack a widow with a young child just because you witnessed her being publicly vilified,” Fetterman remarked in a post on X on Tuesday, alongside a screenshot of a Fox News article. He was referencing Jennifer Welch’s recent criticisms of Erica Kirk.

The senator reacted to a headline that stated, “Liberal podcaster labels widow Erica Kirk an ‘illegal’ who should be kicked to the curb,” adding, “Regardless of differing political opinions, allowing grieving families the time to heal shouldn’t be a point of contention.”

Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), currently running for governor of South Carolina, responded positively to Fetterman’s remarks, saying, “I love it. Thank you, Senator.”

Fetterman’s response was in reaction to Welch’s podcast episode aired on Sunday. In that episode, Welch described Erica Kirk as a “con artist,” criticized her attire, and suggested that her organization was “making women less safe.”

Moreover, Welch inaccurately characterized the late husband of Turning Point USA’s CEO as an “unrepentant racist and homophobe,” advancing the hateful rhetoric that many believe contributed to Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination.

“You are a manipulative con artist using your gender to belittle women, and you exemplify why many are turned off by Christianity and hypocritical women like you,” Welch stated.

“Your language and your organization are putting women’s safety at risk. Your late husband was unapologetically racist and homophobic. Women, Erica, are much more empathetic than you,” the left-wing podcaster continued.

In an earlier remark from October, Welch had criticized left-wing activists who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination, claiming Erica Kirk was “weaponizing” her “gender and faith,” and mocked her appearance.

“She’s a fraud. Just look at her costume changes,” she said. “This woman should be thrown out. She’s a total fraud, much like Donald Trump and her unapologetic racist and homophobic husband.”

Welch also expressed outrage over Erica Kirk’s statements in the New York Times during the DealBook Summit, where she remarked on young women in New York City relying on government support, suggesting that they shouldn’t depend on it to postpone family or marriage.

“You are enjoying the privileges that suffragists and women in the civil rights movement fought for, allowing you to be a working mother and a CEO,” Welch countered.

“You’re simply weaponizing your gender and creating an unfair situation,” she added.

Welch, known for her controversial comments about white individuals and Christians, also criticized Erica Kirk’s appearance, mentioning “tarantula eyes” and “big, bushy evangelical hair,” claiming her presence was discouraging others from embracing Christianity.
