Joe Rogan Surprises Jelly Roll with Grand Ole Opry Invitation
During a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” music artist Jelly Roll was unexpectedly overcome with emotion when Rogan shared a significant announcement that left him in tears.
Rogan played a clip featuring country artist Craig Morgan, who warmly invited Jelly Roll to join the Grand Ole Opry. “Jelly Roll, you have been officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry,” Morgan stated.
Upon hearing the news, Jelly Roll removed his headphones, placed his head in his hands, and cried. He then requested a hug from Rogan, leading to a heartfelt moment between the two.
“Country music doesn’t get any bigger than this, Baba. The bigger it gets, the bigger it gets,” he remarked, reflecting on the honor. He recalled how he had once purchased a ticket to see Morgan perform at the Opry and was deeply moved by his song “Almost Home.”
“It’s the most tear-jerking song about a homeless man. It reminded me of my time in prison,” Jelly Roll explained. “I just kept thinking… ‘I want to make people feel the way he made me feel.'”
Rogan acknowledged Jelly Roll’s impact, saying, “Well, you did it, dude. The feeling he gave you is something you’ve shared with so many others. It’s an incredible gift.”
Jelly Roll expressed his awe at being on Rogan’s podcast, stating it had always been a dream of his. Yet, he felt even more honored to call Rogan a friend.
Reflecting on his life journey, he candidly shared, “I never thought this would be a journey. I thought I would die young; I considered suicide. I never expected to find understanding.” He added, “If God is involved, you can humble yourself a bit. I think the rest will take care of itself, Joe.”
“If you live your life authentically, great things can happen,” Rogan replied. Jelly Roll responded, “I never imagined this. God will make things bigger than your dreams. Someone out there is dreaming right now, and it’s too small. Dream bigger, baby.”
