Pete Alonso shares a sincere goodbye message to the Mets.

Pete Alonso’s Emotional Farewell to Mets Fans

On Thursday, Pete Alonso touched the hearts of Mets fans with a heartfelt message. Having spent his entire career with the team, he recently signed with the Orioles, which marked a significant transition for both him and the fans.

In his Instagram post, Alonso expressed deep gratitude to his supporters. “Thank you, New York,” he wrote. “These past few years have shaped me in ways that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. This city expects the best from you, and I’m proud to look back on the fact that I gave everything I had to earn the privilege of wearing its jersey.”

He didn’t just thank the fans; he also acknowledged the Mets’ coaching staff and his teammates over the years. He said, “I have been blessed with great teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and countless others who have helped shape me into the player and person I am today. I am forever grateful to everyone who has challenged me, supported me, and believed in me along the way.”

Alonso highlighted the energy of Mets fans, saying, “Thank you for the passion. Thank you for the love. Even the tough love that comes with playing in New York. Your energy has lifted me up more than you can imagine. You believed in me and you helped me grow.”

He signed a five-year deal with the Orioles worth $155 million, although it later surfaced that the Mets hadn’t put forth a formal offer to retain him.

In his last season, Alonso excelled, batting .272 with a remarkable NL-leading 41 doubles and 38 home runs, which earned him his first Silver Slugger award.

This contract came shortly after Edwin Diaz joined the Dodgers with a three-year, $69 million deal. Both departures have left Mets fans feeling apprehensive about the team’s future.

Mets owner Steve Cohen reached out to fans, acknowledging their sentiments. “I understand the fan reaction,” he noted in a message. “We still have a lot of offseason left until we get a playoff team on the field.”
