T.J. Watt’s Health Update
Dani, the wife of Steelers’ standout T.J. Watt, shared that the past few days have been challenging since he was hospitalized for lung issues that necessitated surgery.
In a message on his Instagram Story, she noted that T.J., whose brother is former NFL player J.J. Watt, underwent a successful operation and was expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.
“On Thursday, T.J. had surgery to stabilize and repair his partially collapsed lung, which happened after a dry needling session at the training facility,” Dani clarified.
Dry needling is a method where thin needles are inserted into certain muscle areas to alleviate pain and enhance mobility, as explained by some health sources.
Dani continued, “These last few days have been incredibly long and tough, but he’ll be home soon to rest and recover. We’re grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time.” She also expressed her appreciation for the medical teams involved.
At 31 years old, Watt leads the Steelers with seven sacks this season; unfortunately, he will not play in the upcoming game against the Dolphins.
This injury occurred during a treatment session at the team’s facility on Wednesday, according to reports.
J.J. Watt confirmed that T.J.’s recovery timeline is currently uncertain.
This news arrives shortly after the Steelers secured first place in their division, winning against the Ravens.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin provided an update on Watt’s condition following practice, emphasizing his cautious approach to discussing T.J.’s health.
“Honestly, I’m not a medical professional, so I’m careful about what I share. But to summarize: he was experiencing discomfort during his visit to the facility yesterday. We decided to take him to the doctor, and he ended up spending the night at the hospital. Right now, they’re handling some lung issues, and I believe he’s scheduled for further tests,” Tomlin said.
He added, “He and I communicated last night, and he seemed comfortable. That’s about all I can share right now. His status for Monday night is uncertain until we get more information from today’s developments.”
