A cherished bookkeeper and well-known spin instructor, Vicki Ann Cordes, 66, was laid to rest on Friday in her hometown of Simi Valley. She and her husband, Dr. Eric Cordes, were tragically killed in a double murder, shot inside their garage less than two weeks prior.
Their funeral took place at Cornerstone Church, where a significant number of family and friends gathered, many dressed in black, for the 11 a.m. service.
“Vicki was full of life and had a unique flair for fashion, bringing joy and laughter to everyone around her,” noted her obituary.
Originally from Los Angeles, she is remembered fondly as a devoted daughter and mother of two, with a daughter who recently welcomed a child, making Vicki a grandmother.
Vicki and Eric, who were together for 18 years and married for four, shared a beloved dog named Lily and countless special memories.
While she worked as a bookkeeper in a dental office in Reseda, Vicki’s true passion lay in fitness. She taught spin and aerobics classes at Gold’s Gym, where many appreciated her dedication to health.
Mourners paid their respects, bowing their heads as her wooden casket was taken from the church.
Her obituary mentioned, “Vicki was known for her infectious smile and fun personality. She had this incredible way of making people feel valued, and her heart was always open to those who needed support. Her love of fashion, from high heels to sparkling accessories, truly mirrored her vibrant spirit and her zest for life.”
The couple fell victim to a premeditated attack by Keith Cordes, Eric’s son, who had intended to harm them. This incident unfolded just days before their funeral.
Keith’s body was later discovered in a burnt Honda Civic hours after the event.
Details for a service in honor of Eric have not yet been shared.
