Teen in Long Island expressed anger in a disturbed note that ex-girlfriend Emily Finn would not be 'loyal' when he enlisted in the Marines

A troubled teenager from Long Island is facing serious charges for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend, Emily Finn, and leaving behind a note expressing intense anger towards her. The court documents reveal that Austin Lynch claimed she wouldn’t stay “loyal” to him and described her as a “lying, manipulative b****.”

On November 26, Lynch reportedly shot the 18-year-old Finn in the back of the head with a shotgun in his family’s Nesconset home, and afterward, he attempted to take his own life. This tragic incident occurred when Finn came to return some of her things following the end of their three-year relationship.

In a rambling message, which was found in the notes section of his iPhone, Lynch expressed his frustrations about Finn, detailing his feelings in a disjointed manner. For instance, he referred to her as a “psychopath” and seemed to believe that she would switch to single status if he were absent.

Days before the incident, Lynch wrote about feeling hopeless and shared his confusion regarding Finn’s character, lamenting, “How am I the bad guy?” The disturbing note was recovered using a search warrant by the Suffolk County Digital Forensic Unit.

Court documents highlight Lynch’s aggressive behavior, noting that he verbally attacked another boy who had interacted with him. His trip to visit Finn in October ended poorly, with him calling her derogatory names and expressing his anger to a friend.

Interestingly, on the day of her death, Finn had told a friend she feared she might not make it through the day. Authorities say the shotgun used in the crime had been cleaned two days prior, indicating that Lynch had intentionally prepared for the tragic event.

After the shooting, Lynch shot himself but only sustained a minor injury to his nose. He appeared in court, showcasing a bandage on his face with no other visible injuries.

Finn was laid to rest on December 1 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sayville, where attendees honored her memory by wearing pink and contributing to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Lynch has been charged with murder and could potentially face life in prison if found guilty.
