Delilah Hamlin Opens Up About Health Struggles
Delilah Hamlin has faced numerous health challenges and is currently on a journey to recover from the significant physical and mental impacts of what she once thought was a medical anomaly.
The 27-year-old model, who is the daughter of Lisa Rinna, a star from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and actor Harry Hamlin, shared that she struggled with an endometriosis diagnosis that went unrecognized for years. After undergoing surgery, she finally stopped experiencing seizures that plagued her due to her chronic condition.
Reflecting on her past health issues, Hamlin acknowledged that she had gynecological problems for most of her life and often had to advocate for herself based on her own research.
“I had really bad menstrual cramps,” she recently recounted in an episode of the “She is MD” podcast. “I consulted many gynecologists, but none mentioned the possibility of endometriosis.”
She first learned about the condition when singer Halsey discussed it on social media. Hamlin remarked, “At the time, I hadn’t heard of it. I was confused, thinking it was related to PCOS or other things.” She noted how severe her cramps became, even leading to a diagnosis of PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder).
She even recalled skipping classes in high school due to intense symptoms. “The cramps would hit hard, especially during my period,” she shared.
In 2021, Hamlin decided to give up alcohol, partly due to the seizures. “The main reason was because of those seizures,” she stated. “I definitely faced struggles with substance abuse. The depression and anxiety were overwhelming at times.” The root cause of her issues remains unclear, she admitted.
After having surgery to remove endometrial implants, she experienced a reduction in symptoms and seizures. “It’s comforting to know something can be done,” she expressed, while emphasizing the importance of continued research on her health.
In 2023, however, she faced a particularly painful seizure while shooting her first music video. “After nine hours of filming on the second day, I had a seizure,” she recalled. “We still don’t know much, and it’s been years since this started.” Although the experience was one of the worst in recent memory, she was thankful for the support of her loved ones.
Hamlin previously opened up about her struggles with addiction to prescription medication, specifically Xanax, and her battles with various health issues like Lyme disease and the Epstein-Barr virus. She continues to cope with the effects of these conditions, maintaining hope for better understanding and management of her health.
