FBI Stops Anti-ICE, Pro-Palestine Group Suspected of Planning New Year's Eve Bombings in Los Angeles

Authorities Thwart Potential New Year’s Eve Attack in Los Angeles

A left-wing extremist group was reportedly in the process of constructing a bomb and selecting targets for a planned New Year’s Eve attack in Los Angeles before federal officials intervened.

Four individuals, identified as members of a radical faction known as the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), were taken into custody after federal authorities disrupted what was described as a significant threat involving an improvised explosive device (IED), according to reports. A fifth person, linked to this group, has also been arrested in connection with further violent plots.

On Monday morning, FBI Director Kash Patel shared a message on social media detailing the case:

The suspects identified themselves as part of an extremist group driven by pro-Palestinian, anti-law enforcement, and anti-government sentiments. Plans were made for a coordinated IED attack targeting up to five different locations throughout Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.

As the investigation unfolded, the U.S. Attorney General commented on the situation, noting that the group had intended to attack ICE officers and their vehicles.

This operation represents a remarkable collaboration among U.S. law enforcement. We strive to ensure that Americans can live in peace, and we are committed to pursuing these terrorist factions to hold them accountable.

On what seems to be the group’s Instagram page, TILF describes its mission as “Liberation through decolonization and tribal sovereignty.” Photos found there include a woman brandishing a sign that reads “Death to ICE.”

Reportedly, the term “Turtle Island” is an indigenous reference to North America. Video evidence shows a speaker asserting that this designation arose because the layout of the continent resembled a turtle, suggesting that Native Americans regarded the area as “Turtle Island,” a “decolonized” name for America.

The Turtle Island Liberation Front advocates for reparations and the reclamation of land for indigenous peoples. They boldly state that fighting against what they perceive as fascist colonization is necessary, claiming that existing systems cannot be changed through conventional means.

Ultimately, they argue that liberating the world from American imperialism is essential for achieving a secure and peaceful future.
