Michigan Basketball Coach Addresses Football Program Turmoil

Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball head coach Dusty May has shared his thoughts regarding the recent challenges faced by the football program, particularly following the dismissal of coach Sherrone Moore.

Moore was let go last week after allegations emerged about an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Subsequently, he was arrested on charges related to stalking and home invasion.

May commented on the situation, saying, “There have clearly been some poor decisions across the board in relation to football. It is what it is. Everyone involved is a human being, and every decision affects another human being. So I’m praying for the affected families, their lives, and their children. That’s all I can say.”

Moore faces serious charges, including a felony count of burglary and two misdemeanor counts of stalking and trespassing without consent. These charges stem from a troubling incident that occurred after his termination.

The court has set Moore’s bail at $25,000, contingent on adhering to certain conditions like regular mental health treatment, wearing a GPS device, avoiding contact with the victim, and remaining within the state of Michigan. A not guilty plea has been entered on his behalf.

In addition to discussing the football situation, May also touched upon the recent mass shootings that occurred at Brown University and during a Hanukkah event in Australia. He remarked, “I don’t have a solution to the world’s problems, but I think if we all try to be better people, better civilians, etc., we can make a bigger impact. That’s really it.”
