Nick Reiner Arrested Following Parents’ Deaths
Nick Reiner, 32, the son of Rob and Michelle Reiner, has faced numerous challenges over the years, including struggles with addiction and episodes of violence. On Monday, he was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the tragic deaths of his parents, found in their Brentwood, California home on December 14.
Initially, Nick was held on a $4 million bail, but he is now being detained without bail. He was transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on Monday, as per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators suspect that Rob and Michelle suffered stab wounds, according to a law enforcement source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
A longtime neighbor noted that this isn’t the first time Nick had exhibited violent behavior. “I remember there was an incident a few years back, but I don’t want to go into details. I never imagined it would escalate to this point,” they said. The neighbor added, “Rob was often distressed by his son’s ongoing battle with addiction. He and Michelle hoped Nick would seek help through rehab, but he preferred to manage it at home.”
Another resident shared that Nick had previously gone to rehab but believed he was “back to normal.” They recalled his past drug use, saying, “He was on heroin and cocaine a few years ago, went to rehab, and seemed to be doing well, but that didn’t last.”
Nick has openly discussed his struggles. In 2015, he collaborated with Rob on a semi-autobiographical film, “Being Charlie,” which reflects his real-life experiences with addiction and recovery. In a past interview, Rob noted that the film helped strengthen their relationship, allowing them both to gain insights into each other’s challenges.
During a 2018 podcast, Nick recounted a violent incident linked to substance use, illustrating the chaotic situation at his parents’ guest house. Officials reported a loud argument between Nick and Rob at a Christmas party just before the murders, with sources indicating Nick’s erratic behavior raised concerns among guests.
A representative for the family confirmed the tragic news of Rob and Michelle’s deaths, requesting privacy as they navigate this painful time. Following an investigation, authorities determined Nick was responsible for the fatalities.
Nick was arrested around 9:15 PM on Sunday and is currently facing serious charges without bail. The case will be brought to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office soon.
Rob and Michelle Reiner were also parents to Jake and Romy, showing that they leave behind a heartbroken family in this tragic situation.
