Week 16 Waiver Wire Watch for Tight Ends
Hello there. The first week of fantasy playoffs has wrapped up, and perhaps some of you are feeling that rush of hope for a league victory and a chance to gloat over your friends. Meanwhile, others might be grappling with the disappointment of a last-place finish. Regardless, it’s time to scout for ways to ramp up your roster for the next playoff round.
Let’s dive into some tight ends worth considering for your waiver wire pick-ups as we head into Week 16. Just a heads-up: we’re looking at players active in up to 60% of leagues. Remember, at this stage, every team is still in the game, so no one gets a bye week.
Colby Parkinson, TE, Los Angeles Rams (5.2%)
Parkinson has turned into quite the touchdown machine for tight ends lately. He shined during a thrilling 41-34 win over the Lions, catching five of seven throws for 75 yards and scoring twice in the second half. It’s worth noting this was a standout performance during a critical matchup between NFC playoff contenders.
That marked his sixth touchdown in the last six games. On Sunday, he really demonstrated he can add more than just red zone value. With Matthew Stafford needing help, Parkinson could be a valuable asset you can grab off the waiver wire this week.
Week 16 matchups: @ Seattle Seahawks, 8:15 PM ET (Thursday night)
Gunnar Helm, TE, Tennessee Titans (1.3%)
The Titans are having a rough season, but if you look closely, you might spot some bright spots here and there. One such bright spot was Helm during the team’s recent 37-24 loss to the 49ers. He led in receptions, snagging all four targets for 49 yards, including a touchdown that cut the deficit to one point.
This rookie from Texas has racked up 17 catches in the last four games, positioning himself as a reliable target for Cam Ward. With the Titans focused on assessing their younger offensive talents, we might see even more of Helm as this season progresses.
Week 16 matchups: vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 1 PM ET
Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears (44.3%)
The Bears had a straightforward victory over the Browns, winning 31-3, and Loveland made a notable impact with 63 receiving yards on four receptions. This performance marks the third time in four weeks that he has landed as a top-15 fantasy tight end, and the coaches seem to be recognizing his contributions. It’s not too late to pick him up!
Week 16 matchups: vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:20 PM ET (Saturday night)
Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills (2.3%)
Knox stepped up significantly for the Bills during their 35-31 victory in Foxboro, keeping their AFC East title hopes alive. He achieved 37 yards on three receptions, with two leading to touchdowns in the second half, propelling Buffalo’s comeback. This follows a stellar 93-yard game against the Bengals the previous week, and it looks like he’s building a solid connection with Josh Allen for the rest of the season. It might be worth taking a chance on him.
Week 16 matchups: @ Cleveland Browns, 1 PM ET.
