Top QB waiver wire picks for fantasy football in Week 16

Welcome to the Week 16 Waiver Wire Watch for Quarterbacks!

As the first week of the fantasy playoffs wraps up, some of you might be feeling pretty good about your chances of winning, while others are scrambling to avoid finishing last in their leagues. Regardless of where you stand, now is the time to think about bolstering your roster for the postseason.

Here’s a list of quarterbacks you might want to grab off the waiver wire for Week 16. Just a heads-up, all teams will be active moving forward—there are no bye weeks left.

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars (54.7%)

Lawrence is hitting his stride, leading the Jaguars to a fifth consecutive win with a decisive 48-20 victory over the Jets. He threw for 330 yards, rushed for 51, and scored six touchdowns—his best performance in the regular season thus far—finishing the week as the top fantasy QB with 44.3 points.

The former top pick has been on fire in the latter half of the season, going three games with no interceptions. With the Jaguars at 10-4 and the Chiefs out of playoff contention, he could make a significant impact as the postseason draws near. We’ve suggested picking him up for a few weeks, and he might still be available.

Week 16 matchups: @ Denver Broncos, 4:05 PM ET.

Jacoby Brissett, QB, Arizona Cardinals (35.0%)

The Cardinals took a hit on Sunday, losing 40-20 to the Texans, but let’s focus on Brissett. He had a strong showing with 249 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, racking up 21.6 fantasy points. Gannon’s strategy seems to involve leaning on Brissett, who has been attempting over 40 passes per game lately.

Brissett is emerging as a reliable option for fantasy points, especially during garbage time. If you’re looking for a solid QB to navigate the rest of the playoffs, he could be your guy.

Week 16 matchups: vs. Atlanta Falcons, 4:05 PM ET.

Kirk Cousins, QB, Atlanta Falcons (8.8%)

Cousins has had a solid history against the Buccaneers, and last Thursday was no exception as he led the Falcons to a 29-28 victory, throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns. This performance marked one of his best outings since taking over for the injured Michael Penix Jr.

Since stepping in, Cousins has shown consistent gameplay, connecting well with offensive talents like Kyle Pitts Jr. and Bijan Robinson. If you’re in urgent need of a quarterback, he’s definitely a valuable option to consider this week.

Week 16 matchups: @Arizona Cardinals, 4:05 PM ET.

JJ McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings (30.2%)

McCarthy had a breakout moment recently, leading the Vikings to a 34-26 win over the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Tallying 250 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, he impressed many. His highlight was a clever bootleg that caught the Dallas defense off guard for a touchdown.

So far, McCarthy has six touchdowns in just two weeks and is proving he’s capable of leading the team. He’s made some solid connections downfield, especially with Justin Jefferson. Currently, he ranks among the top 10 fantasy quarterbacks and could be a good pick for this weekend’s matchup against the Giants.

Week 16 matchups: @ New York Giants, 1 PM ET.
