The forecast is built on a solid foundation of data analysis, examining numerous factors such as last year’s airfare patterns and ongoing sales to create a list of the best places to fly.

This comprehensive list covers 15 destinations, outlining the optimum times to travel and providing tips for snagging the best deals.

The leading contenders in each travel category were identified based on consistent value and reliability.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida tops the domestic list with an average fare of just $95, especially favorable for trips in January and September.

Orlando, also in Florida, comes in at a close second with an average cost of $105, where traveling in early May or mid-September could yield better prices.

Next up is Chicago, Illinois, where flights at both Midway and O’Hare airports average around $94. The suggested travel months are April-May or September-October.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Dallas, Texas round off the top five domestic destinations.

Interestingly, international travel can also be quite budget-friendly if you know where to look.

San Salvador, El Salvador emerges as the most affordable international location for 2026, averaging around $198 for flights during the dry season from December to March.

Following San Salvador, Madrid, Spain offers average fares of approximately $438 for trips from April to June or September to October.

Vancouver, Canada is also accessible, with average ticket prices around $248, particularly during the shoulder seasons.

Lisbon, Portugal is next, averaging about $491, with the best travel months being from April to June or September to October.

Finally, Medellin, Colombia rounds out the international top five, where flights average $254, suggesting the dry months from December to March as the ideal time to go.
