Jake Tapper says he reports on Trump's health frequently

CNN anchor Jake Tapper stated that he has been “constantly” reporting on former President Trump’s health, suggesting that he is compensating for the limited focus on former President Joe Biden’s mental decline.

“We discuss this regularly on our show,” Tapper noted as host of “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”

“I think this is partly because we covered Biden’s situation, but maybe we didn’t delve as deeply as we should have back then,” he added.

Tapper considered it a valid concern for any president, especially someone in their 80s.

Recently, he addressed Trump’s “insane social rant,” which followed a New York Times article suggesting the president was displaying signs of exhaustion. Trump labeled the piece “inflammatory and perhaps treasonous.”

Tapper has received significant criticism for allegedly profiting from Biden’s situation with his provocative book “Original Sin,” despite having defended Biden’s mental fitness while he was in office.

Earlier this year, Tapper apologized to Lara Trump after an on-air confrontation during the 2020 presidential race. Biden refuted her claims regarding his cognitive decline and accused her of mocking his stutter.

In the same episode, Tapper defended his analysis on Biden’s handling of withdrawal decisions, found in the book he co-authored with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, titled “Original Sin: The Decline of the Biden Presidency, Its Cover-Up, and the Disastrous Choice to Run Again.”

“I don’t know anyone who sees it that way. [Biden] could hold the presidency not only now but potentially until 2029,” Tapper remarked.

Yet, he admitted, “In his current state, when I observe him speaking or walking, I feel a sense of pity for him.”
