Shedeur Sanders Ranks in Pro Bowl Voting
Shedeur Sanders is currently 10th among quarterbacks in the Pro Bowl voting. This is notable considering his performance with the struggling Cleveland Browns, where he played in just five games, recording five touchdowns, six interceptions, and totaling 946 yards. His record stands at 1-3 as a starter.
The selection of Pro Bowl participants combines votes from fans, coaches, and fellow players, each counting for a third of the total decision. Interestingly, Sanders has managed to outpace several established stars like Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts, the current Super Bowl MVP. Furthermore, other rookies like Baker Mayfield, Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Bo Nix, who lead the league with a solid 12-2 record, have received fewer votes than Sanders.
Among his peers, Jackson Dart and Cam Ward also missed out on votes, even though they put up stronger numbers in more games. Drafted in the fifth round at No. 144, Sanders started training camp as the Browns’ fourth quarterback. His rise to prominence has been quite the story since his draft in April.
Initially projected as a candidate for the first overall pick, he faced a slip-down the draft board. Adding to the drama of his offseason were multiple traffic violations, the trade of veteran Joe Flacco to the Bengals, and rookie Dillon Gabriel’s concussion. Despite these setbacks, Sanders has climbed the Browns’ depth chart and is now expected to start for the remainder of the season.
Despite a rocky beginning in his NFL career, and some negative media scrutiny, he maintains a group of supporters among Pro Bowl voters. Interestingly, he has previously expressed approval of President Donald Trump, who criticized the NFL owners for overlooking Sanders in the draft. After Sanders scored his first win as a starter, Trump echoed his support on social media.
In response to Trump’s congratulations, Sanders expressed gratitude, stating, “He’s certainly been every minute of my support, so I just thank him for taking the time to speak.”
