Wicked: For Good Set for Digital Release
We’ve had our fun singing together in theaters, but now, the opportunity to sing “No Good Deed” can happen right from your living room. Wicked: For Good will be available for purchase and rental on digital platforms starting tomorrow.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, with a screenplay by Winnie Holtzman and Dana Fox, this film is the second act of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical. Cynthia Erivo plays Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, who, after experiencing betrayal, becomes a fugitive dedicated to animal rights. Years later, Galinda, played by Ariana Grande, who now goes by Glinda the Good, finds herself in conflict with her old friend from Shiz.
The first installment, Wicked, not only made a splash at the box office but also emerged as one of 2024’s highest-grossing films. There are high hopes for Wicked: For Good to achieve similar success, possibly even earning Oscar nominations. Having dominated the Thanksgiving and Christmas box offices, Universal is keen on capitalizing further with this digital home release. But before you consider shelling out $30 to watch it, here’s what to keep in mind. Wicked: For Good is planned to be available for free streaming on Peacock for subscribers in early 2026.
Where to Watch Wicked: For Good
The film will be available beginning Tuesday, December 30 at 12 AM ET (that’s December 29 at 9 PM PT). You can purchase and rent Wicked: For Good digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, among other platforms. Prices will vary, but for instance, Amazon Prime lists it at $29.99 for purchase and $24.99 for rental. Just a note—if you rent, you have 48 hours to finish watching after you start.
If you’re interested, there’s an option to buy both Part 1 and Part 2 together on Amazon Prime for $39.98. Physical copies, like DVD and Blu-ray, are set to hit shelves on January 20, 2026.
Currently, Wicked: For Good is not streaming on any subscription services, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes soon. Since this is a Universal production, it’s likely to show up on Peacock eventually, considering their deal with Amazon that will see the film stream there too.
Streaming Timeline for Peacock
So, when can you expect to stream Wicked: For Good on Peacock? It’s anticipated to be available as early as late February 2026, although an official release date hasn’t been announced yet. Historically, Universal’s films typically land on Peacock after their theatrical run, but exact waiting times differ.
Looking back, Wicked: Part 1 was released in theaters around Thanksgiving and became available for streaming on Peacock in March 2025, roughly four months later. If Wicked: For Good follows a similar schedule, we could see it on Peacock by mid-to-late March 2026. However, there’s a bit of a trend with recent Universal films streaming on Peacock just three months post-theatrical release, which might mean an even earlier release for Wicked: For Good—possibly in late February 2026—especially with the Oscars around the corner on March 15.
Currently, Peacock offers two subscription options: Premium with ads at $10.99 monthly, and Premium Plus without ads at $16.99. You can save by opting for an annual plan, essentially getting 12 months for the price of 10.
Free Streaming on Amazon Prime Video
Eventually, Wicked: For Good will also be free to stream on Amazon Prime Video about four months after it appears on Peacock. This is part of Universal’s arrangement with Amazon, which allows their movies to stream on Peacock first and then transition to Prime Video. If all goes as planned, we might see Wicked: For Good available on Prime around July 2026.
Of course, this is all tentative. Universal doesn’t stick to a hard and fast digital release strategy. While past films have followed certain timelines, things can vary. If you’re eager to catch Wicked: For Good right away, you might want to think about renting or purchasing it online.
